Who are we?
Purpose
We are a Christadelphian Ecclesia
We have joined together to form this Ecclesia in compliance with apostolic writings to worship the Father; to break bread and memorialize the sacrifice of the Master; to instruct the young; and for our mutual edification and encouragement; and in order that a lightstand of the truth might be maintained in Pomona.
We as an Ecclesia accept and profess the doctrines and precepts of Christ as taught in the Apostolic writings, and defined (positively and negatively) in the Statement of Faith, and Epitome of the Commandments of Christ, which amplified as to proposition XXIV in 1998.
The Term "Ecclesia"
To help in the development, and give scope for the exercise of this faithfulness, obedient believers were required to form themselves into communities, which in Greek were called Ecclesias. There is no exact equivalent in English for this term Ecclesia. It means an assembly of the called.
The Name "Christadelphian"
"Brethren of Christ"
Coming from the name which Jesus applied to his disciples. He called them "My brethren" (John 20:17; Hebrews 2:11) - therefore brethren of Christ.
History
The Christadelphians became a distinct group about the middle of the nineteenth century, in the eastern United States. Since then, we have grown across the world, with core communities in the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and Australia. There are also smaller groups throughout the rest of the world, including Central and South America, Africa, Eastern Europe and the Pacific Rim.
